Learn from your buildings, not just in them.

Solar for Schools works with around 300 schools across the UK.

We provide the whole service - funding, surveys, planning permission, grid connection, installation, and - most importantly - 25 years of maintenance, management and inspiring, hands-on education

Who pays for the solar panels?

The funding for the solar usually comes from the Solar for Schools Community Benefit Society (or CBS), a non-profit funding vehicle which raises money from ethically-minded individuals. When a school has solar installed with us, they become a member of the CBS with voting and decision-making rights. The Society is run by and for schools. If that route doesn’t work, there are other funding options and grants available. We help you access this.

What’s the catch?

There isn’t one. The solar costs you nothing to install. Instead you pay for the solar energy you use as a building. Some schools choose to make a financial contribution, own a bit more of their solar system and pay a bit less for their solar energy. Our only request is that you nominate someone passionate to help drive the project forward. We will do all the paperwork, but this person will lead the project from inside the school community. Ideally this is a decision-maker, such as Headteacher, Governor, Business Manager or Finance Director.

Don't just take our word for it

"Everything was handled with professionalism and support. The install itself was flawless, and your teams were always just a phone call away. Now, our roof hums with green energy, powering our classrooms and sparking the imaginations of our young eco-warriors" Emma-Jane Kelly - Headteacher at Barn Croft Primary School, Walthamstow
